Date of Birth: July 7, 1997

Born in Istanbul in 1997, Öznur Cüre Girdi became paralyzed after a traffic accident in 2014. Despite the life-changing event, she remained committed to sports. In 2019, she began her archery career with the support of the Okçular Vakfı Sports Club. Her exceptional talent quickly shone through — she earned a quota for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games at the European Para Archery Qualification Tournament held in Czechia.
At Tokyo 2020, she competed in both the individual and team events, winning a silver medal in the team category. In 2022, at the Para Archery World Championships in Dubai, she and her teammates broke the world record in the ranking round and went on to claim the gold medal, becoming World Champions in the Women’s Compound Team category. Her success continued in 2023, when she won the gold medal in the Women’s Compound final at the Para Archery World Championships in Czechia, earning the title of Individual World Champion.
In 2024, she became the European Champion in Italy and later achieved a career-defining moment at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, setting both World and Paralympic records in the ranking round with a score of 704 and securing the gold medal in the Compound Women’s final. Following her historic Paralympic triumph, she was voted “Paralympic Female Athlete of the Year” by the World Archery Federation.
In 2025, she made history once again by being selected to represent Türkiye in the National Team alongside able-bodied athletes, competing at the World Cup Stage Two in China — a first for a Turkish para archer. That same year, she also won a bronze medal at the Conquest Cup and a gold medal in the Compound Women’s Team event at the World Para Archery Championships in South Korea, along with silver medals in both the individual and mixed team events.
Öznur Cüre Girdi continues to inspire as she competes successfully in both Paralympic and Olympic categories, breaking barriers and redefining excellence in Turkish archery.
