Date of Birth: July 28, 1993

Sport: Artistic Gymnastics
Born in İzmir in 1993, Turkish gymnast Ferhat Arıcan began gymnastics at the age of 11 upon the recommendation of his teacher. Although he started later than most of his peers, his natural talent and determination quickly set him apart. He achieved his first international success at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games, winning a silver medal on vault. In 2014, he became the first Turkish gymnast ever to reach a World Championships final. While continuing to achieve success at both national and international levels, he made history by becoming the first Turkish male artistic gymnast to compete at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Arıcan won a bronze medal on parallel bars, marking Türkiye’s first-ever Olympic medal in gymnastics. At the European Championships, he won gold medals on parallel bars in 2020 and 2021, and a silver medal in 2023. In 2021, he was named the “Male Gymnast of the Year” by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). In 2022, he helped the Turkish Men’s National Team win a silver medal at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Antalya — a landmark team achievement for Turkish gymnastics.
Throughout the World Challenge Cup series, Arıcan has claimed over 15 gold medals. Earning a quota spot for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, he became one of the few gymnasts to compete in three consecutive Olympics. A true pioneer of Turkish gymnastics, Ferhat Arıcan has two officially recognized eponymous skills in the world gymnastics code — both named “Arıcan”, performed on parallel bars and vault.
In addition to his athletic career, he serves as the Head of the Gymnastics Department at Göztepe Sports Club, where he also competes as an athlete. Through his project, Kolektif Akademi, established in partnership with Göztepe Gymnastics, he continues to inspire and train future generations of gymnasts.
