Cedi Osman was born in 1995 in Ohrid, North Macedonia. He began playing basketball in Macedonia and moved to Türkiye at the age of 13 after being invited by Anadolu Efes, where he joined the club’s youth academy. By 2017, he had become one of the team’s key players. During his time with Anadolu Efes, he won one Turkish Cup and one Presidential Cup.
Representing the Turkish National Team, Osman won the 2013 FIBA U18 European Championship. In 2014, he captured the FIBA U20 European Championship, where he was also named Most Valuable Player (MVP). In the same year, he was selected as the Turkish Basketball Super League Best Young Player.
Cedi Osman was selected 31st overall (first pick of the second round) in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves and was subsequently traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. He signed with Cleveland in 2017 and spent six seasons, appearing in 404 games. In 2018, he reached the NBA Finals after winning the Eastern Conference Championship.
During his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cedi Osman recorded 628 three-point field goals. In 2022, he became the ninth player in franchise history to surpass 500 made threes, ranking fifth all-time in Cavaliers history at the time. In 2023, he transferred to the San Antonio Spurs, concluding his NBA tenure with 4,471 total points, becoming one of the most durable and productive Turkish players in NBA history.
In 2024, Osman joined Panathinaikos BC AKTOR in Greece, where he won the Greek Cup in his first season. During the 2024–2025 EuroLeague season, he competed in the Final Four. In 2025, he captained the Turkish Men’s National Basketball Team to a silver medal at the European Basketball Championship. Türkiye reached the final undefeated before falling to Germany, finishing the tournament as runners-up. Osman also led the championship in three-point shooting, recording 29 made three-pointers, the highest total in the tournament. He was named the EuroLeague Round 31 MVP for the 2025–26 season.
