Ahmetcan Erşimşek began playing volleyball at a competitive level in middle school. In 2016, he joined VakıfBank as an assistant coach and worked on Giovanni Guidetti’s coaching staff until 2024. During this period, he was part of the team that won 4 CEV Champions League titles, 3 FIVB Club World Championships, 4 Turkish League titles, 4 Turkish Cups, and 3 Turkish Super Cups.

At the same time, he served as an assistant coach for the Turkish Women’s National Volleyball Team. Between 2023 and 2024, he was a member of the Serbian Women’s National Volleyball Team’s coaching staff, taking part in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and contributing to the team’s silver medal at the European Championship. He also served as an assistant coach for the Canada Women’s National Volleyball Team at the 2025 World Championship.

As of the 2024/2025 season, he took on the role of head coach of the Bulgarian club Maritza Plovdiv VC. In his first season, he led the team to an undefeated Bulgarian Volleyball League championship and also secured the Bulgarian Cup title. In the 2025/2026 season, he won the Bulgarian Cup once again, achieving this success for the second consecutive time.
